Dr. Berry is a native Texan from Dallas Texas. After graduating from Highland Park High School in Dallas he went to Baylor University in Waco where he earned a degree in Business Administration. After two years of business consulting work for Arthur Andersen & Co and earning his CPA certificate in Dallas, he decided to return to school to become a physician, a move he has never regretted.
Medical and Surgical Training:
- Medical School: Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1990
- Internship: Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Internal Medicine, 1990-1991
- Residency: Scott & White Clinic/Texas A&M University School of Medicine, 1991-1994
- Board Certification: American Board of Ophthalmology in 1995.
Dr. Berry moved to San Antonio in 1994 with his growing family and joined a group practice called Northeast Eye Physicians. In 1999 the practice was renamed Alamo City Eye Physicians. His wife, Dr. Susan Berry practices with him part-time as a pediatric ophthalmologist. In subsequent years he was joined by Dr. Walton and Dr. Pittard with the practice growing to its current three locations serving the eye care needs of San Antonio.
Dr. Berry performs the most modern ophthalmic surgical and laser techniques including small incision cataract surgery with lens implantation. He also has a special interest in Medical Retina treatment involving Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, and Retinal vein occlusions.
Dr. Berry's interests outside of work include: Mrs. Berry and his family, two Shetland Sheepdogs, Bible Study, History and Theology, reading, camping, hiking, skiing, tennis, and piano. He has also participated in several surgical mission trips to Peru with Medical Missions International.
