Dr. Bill Walton

Dr. Walton was born in San Antonio Texas at Brooke Army Medical Center.  He grew up in Louisiana where he attended LSU and then Tulane School of Medicine graduating in 1986.  In medical school he was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society  for top medical school students.  He completed his Ophthalmology training in the military at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.  Dr. Walton remained on active duty for 9 years finishing his commitment to the Army as Chief of Ophthalmology at Ft. Carson, Colorado.  He served an additional 13 years in the US Army Reserves retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 2004.  Dr. Walton is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and has been in private practice in San Antonio since 1996.  His practice focuses on comprehensive eye care including cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, glaucoma treatment, diabetic eye care, macular degeneration management, and both pediatric and adult routine eye exams.  In Dr. Walton's 25+ years of clinical practice he has performed thousands of eye surgeries.  He continues to maintain his current expertise by attending local and national medical meetings.  Dr. Walton is also an active participant in community medical leadership having served as past Chief of Staff at N.E. Methodist Hosptial and past President of the San Antonio Society of Ophthalmology.  He is also an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Ophthalmology Association, and Society of Military Ophthalmology.

Dr. Walton also volunteers his time for Medical mission work both in San Antonio and Mexico.  Dr. Walton is married with three adult children (a doctor, a teacher and a nurse).  He and his wife enjoy the outdoors, traveling, snow skiing and time with family.
